Mike Midnight is Michael Gunson, a sound artist, DJ and experimental musician based in Perth, Western Australia working with a vast array of revolving instrumentation and abstract sound sources. Michael’s compositions build dense aural landscapes that incorporate elements of musique concrete and industrial music alongside hallucinatory drones and various acousmatic phenomena. Michael’s recent record Angel Hours was a cult success, a work which set out his fascination of shoegaze, trip hop, hauntoloy and synthesized ambient music.

Defined by a meticulous approach to the composition, production, art direction and presentation of his work, every release encapsulates Michael’s idiosyncratic vision. It is a colourful world that speaks to the exquisite corpse ‘feed’ experience of life, synthesising a mosaic of disparate influences presented by the online world.

He performs and exhibits at spaces such Museum Boola Bardip, Miscellania, Soma Fest, Freedom Time and Songs for Freedom among others.
